In the simplest terms, Yoga Nidra is a guided relaxation meditation, typically practiced in Savasana. This sleep-based meditation technique leads to systemic relaxation and facilitates a release of deeply held physical, mental and emotional tensions. It activates the parasympathetic nervous system, stimulates the endocrine system and is an effective way to bring balance to the body and mind. The best part is; you receive all these benefits while simply laying comfortably, listening to the guidance and relaxing completely.
The best way to understand such an experiential practice is by doing it! After a brief description allowing insight into the meditation, we will practice relaxing pranayama and gentle, restorative asana as a precursor to a nice long guided Savasana.
